We are a blended step-family and STRUGGLE to accommodate the many schedules in our lives. Planning a family vacation use to be fairly easy and now it feels like another job. In our situation, our youngest lives on the east coast and our oldest on the west coast and we are typically somewhere in the middle. The time and money needed to have what was once a quick week-long vacation, now comes with a hefty price tag and excessive coordination.
Typically we have taken road trips for our vacations, mostly around family and work commitments. We were both working five times harder than we needed just so we could retire sooner, live comfortably, and have the freedom to go when and where we wanted.
After much discussion, we decided we were going to retire and move to the coast. We mapped out the famous “5-year” plan, which then turned into a whopping “15-year” plan because of everyday life and the large volume of stuff that comes with life. Eventually, we were focusing on what to do to complete the plan, paying for the materialistic things that do not matter, the quality time became scarce and time was flying by too fast.
That’s when we created “Plan SRV”and six months later we downsized and moved into the RV.
We created ScaventureRV to inspire like-minded individuals to take a leap of faith and make a detour at the crossroads of life. Rob is retired U.S. Air Force and Chantel works in corporate America, remotely. We have dedicated our lives and careers to support the country and have since birth, literally.
Our love for travel comes naturally to both of us. As military brats, both were raised all over the world, moved every few years and developed what is known as the “3-year itch”. If you are familiar with military-life, families typically relocate every 3-4 years, thus “the itch”.
During these life scaventures as children, we were introduced to different cultures, foods, and lifestyles. This has carried into our adult life and we have a deep appreciation for the vast diversity in every culture around the world and across the numerous states and regions of the U.S.
This has inspired us to travel the country with the mission to EXPLORE | ENGAGE | ENHANCE different communities in North America. As homebodies, we knew the RV was the right choice for our travel the moment we came up with the idea. The blend of home and travel made perfect sense.
